I've had a brief look but can't find any in depth analysis of this title at the moment but it brought up this older DF article which shows the 50Hz/60Hz issues with GTA: San Andreas. I have absolutely no idea how the PAL version of this game is running, what I'm saying is that people's TVs telling them it's displaying at 60Hz does't really confirm anything about how the game is running.Īre people finding that the controls possibly feel a bit off while playing this? Maybe a bit unresponsive in comparison to running the original game on the original format? It's something hah people should be able to feel but to work out if it's due to running in this way will down to people like Digital Foundry who can look at it in far more depth.
APE ESCAPE PS4 PC
I'm sure somebody is going to say that emulators on their PC play 50Hz games at 60Hz but why it's preferable there is that it would also run the game at 60Hz which hasn't happened with the previous PAL versions of PS2 on PS4. Displaying on the screen at 60Hz doesn't necessarily tie in with what the game is doing and although it's instantly dismissed here, if the game is running at 50Hz it's a far smoother experience to be displaying it at 50Hz too. Visually the game looks fantastic in 1080p, with the exception of some low res icons and the Cutscene quality I wouldn't be able to tell it any different from a decently done HD remaster.Ĭlick to expand.Has that been confirmed now? The issue with the previous PAL releases was it would display at 60Hz put the game would still be running in the original 50Hz which caused repeated frames and some pretty bad frame pacing issues. Speaking as someone who generally complains and is bothered by this stuff though with the exception of the weird jump imputs I haven't noticed anything to make the imputs or gameplay feel like it's off and they're frameblending, but again I could be wrong.Īnd on another note I love that this game has the option to switch between 4:3 and 16:9 (I assume it's true widescreen despite it being a old game) modes instantly in options and it'll do it on the PS4 port aswell. Not much long after, an official Japanese Ape Escape 20th anniversary account was made on Twitter, which began to post several teasers, possibly signifying something new for the franchise in the works.I'll admit this is my first PAL PS2 Classic on PS4 (I went US with Rogue Galaxy due to hearing about the frameblending issues) and the controls did feel a bit off at first (but I think that's more me adjusting to Ape Escapes control scheme more than anything else, as it's pretty out of the norm nowadays, rather than regular), but from what I can gather it's definately faster than the original 50hz version I played years ago on PS2.
